| Guitar arrived today! American Special Toronado,
Crimson Red with Atomic Pick-ups. I've only played on it for about
2 hours so far but it feels and sounds great - exactly what I
wanted and hoped to get - a Strat feel with fat tone!
The tuno-o-matic bridge is much more comfortable than a Les
Paul one for palming, not sure whether its because I got it
set up for low action or what but the transition from Strat
to Toro in that reguard is easy. It also sits very well when
seated and feels great standing.
Couple of things were different to the stock photos I've seen
(could be later model changes?):
· The headstock is black, not the natural neck colour
(I read something about this but didn't take much notice - anyone
give any insight into this?).
·
The other major change (if there are any others?) is that the
tone and volume knobs no longer have numbers on them, just a
white dot indicating the '10' posistion. The also have small
rubber rings which can pull off, I assume they're there for
grip purposes (again anyone know why this change was made or
how long ago?).
Anyway these are pretty small differences in an otherwise great
guitar! I will post pictures next week sometime. Until then
I plan to play the hell out of it!
